1. General information
In accordance with the regulations, students are required to present and defend their master´s final project (MFP) before a board of examiners. In it, they must demonstrate that they have acquired the necessary competencies to develop their future professional work.
These approaches and objectives are aligned with the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations Agenda 2030 (https://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/es/), so that the acquisition of the learning results of the subject provides training and competence to contribute to some extent to their achievement, specifically Goals 4: Quality Education.
2. Learning results
Upon completion of the subject, the student will be able to:
Demonstrate the ability to implement the procedures acquired during the master's degree by designing an overall analysis of a specific topic in the field of occupational risk prevention in one of the three specialties of occupational safety, ergonomics and psychosociology and industrial hygiene.
Document, systematize and analyse the information available on a specific topic in the field of occupational risk prevention in any of the three mentioned specialties.
Formulate valid and relevant hypotheses and feasible objectives in relation to a research problem.
Perform rigorous observations and measurements on a phenomenon of interest to evaluate hypotheses and objectives.
Structure and write reports based on the rationale, methods and results from data and information obtained from the observation of a phenomenon of interest.
Draw conclusions with practical implications for the prevention of occupational hazards.
Have good oral and written presentation and writing skills.
3. Syllabus
INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE PRESENTATION OF THE MFP OF THE MASTER'S DEGREE IN OCCUPATIONAL RISK PREVENTION
In order to obtain the Master's Degree in Occupational Risk Prevention, it will be necessary to complete a work that meets the requirements shown below. These instructions are drafted in accordance with the provisions of the Agreement of September 11, 2014, of the Governing Council of the University, which approves the regulations of the degree and master's final projects at the University of Zaragoza.(http://wzar.unizar.es/servicios/coord/norma/traba14.pdf).
These instructions have been previously informed by the Master's Degree Guarantees Commission, as stipulated in article 3.4 of the aforementioned regulations.
PREVIOUS REQUIREMENTS
To have taken and passed the compulsory subjects and at least one of the optional specialties in occupational safety, industrial hygiene or ergonomics and applied psychosociology. It is necessary to have passed the external internship including the presentation of the internship reports with the positive assessment of the tutor teacher included in the records.
SUBJECT:
-In the case of students who are required to do an internship, the MFP must be an original study.
- It will deal with a subject related to the contents of the master's degree and will also be related to the specialties studied, although it may also be linked to the internships carried out.
- The works shall constitute an autonomous and personal work of the student and shall contain sufficient elements of personal creation and properly cite all sources used (drafted in accordance with Article 3.5 of the Agreement of September 11, 2014):
1. In accordance with article 4 of the agreement of September 11, the following types of projects may be carried out, among others: a) specific academic work; b) specific laboratory work; c) specific work carried out as a result of internships in companies or institutions; d) equivalent work carried out as a result of a stay in another Spanish or foreign university through a mobility agreement or program.
2. In any case, they shall be materialized in a written report or project, which shall be accompanied, if necessary, by the material deemed appropriate in accordance with the procedures established by the centre. Specifically in the Master´s Degree in Occupational Risk Prevention, the work follow these alternative modalities: Applied intervention: describes and analyses a particular problem of occupational risk prevention in a company (public or private), in a public organization or in an external prevention service. The student formulates a proposal or a professional project that represents a contribution to the development of the company, prevention service or organization in question, related to the problem addressed. Technical or legal research: describes, analyses and/or explains a theoretical or empirical problem associated with the specialties studied and may also be linked to the internship. Regardless of the type of MFP chosen, the project must contain at least the following sections: Objectives, methodology, reviewed novel contribution and bibliography consulted and cited. Students who have validated their internships must necessarily complete a final research project. The topic will be agreed upon with the student's tutor.
PROJECT SUPERVISION.
- The work must be carried out under the supervision of a director appointed by the Quality Assurance Committee of the master's degree. 1. 1. 1. 1. Quality Assurance Committee of the Master's Degree. If the director does not have a doctoral degree, they must share the directorship with a PhD holder.
- As a general criterion in the designation of the tutors, the degree of origin of the students will be taken into account, as well as the specialization of the professor/tutor. The activities to be carried out in order to complete the MFP will be those indicated by the tutors.
DEPOSIT OF THE WORK
- It shall be deposited through the current electronic means determined by the university, in the form requested by the centre and with the approval of the director or co-directors within the deadlines established by the centre. Once the MFP is completed, 3 copies will be deposited at the Secretary's Office of the Faculty of Law pending the assignment of the board of examiners.
- In order to defend the work, the approval of the director will be required. The director's report must be submitted to the master's coordinator prior to the defence. The MFP will be defended orally on the assigned dates and according to the order previously announced. The maximum presentation time will be 15 minutes. REQUIREMENTS:
- In order to be able to defend the work, it is necessary to have passed the general part (compulsory subjects) of the master's degree and at least one specialty (elective subjects).
BOARD OF EXAMINERS COMPOSITION
- Several boards of examiners will be created, each of them composed of three PhDs, appointed by the master's Quality Assurance Committee. By agreement of the master´s Guarantee Commission, the composition of the boards will be reorganized so that, as far as possible, they will be specific to the different specialties: safety, hygiene and ergonomics and applied psychosociology.
DEFENCE
- The student will have to proceed to the public defence of their master's thesis before the corresponding board of examiners, within the periods established for this purpose, at least two per academic year, which may not coincide with the examination periods. One of the periods will take place after the September call. Students may defend their project only on two occasions. If the student does not pass the defence successfully in any of the two occasions, they must enrol again in the subject.
PROJECT PRESENTATION GUIDELINES
- A4 format - Projects should be as long as necessary according to the content to be covered (including annexes and tables), in Times New Roman 12, single-spaced.
- Binding: Three duly bound copies must be submitted.
- The following information must appear on the cover of the document: Title, author, director, Master's Degree in Occupational Risk Prevention and date.
- The university regulations foresee the electronic deposit of the papers in the DEPOSITA as an essential requirement for their defence (prior to their defence). Information about this repository can be found on the Internet or can be requested at the Law School library.
4. Academic activities
The program offered to the student to help them achieve the expected results includes the activities indicated by the tutors in order to produce the MFP.
5. Assessment system
In order to pass the subject, the student must demonstrate they has acquired the foreseen learning results by the following assessment activities:

- Projects should be as long as necessary according to the content to be covered (including annexes and tables), in Times New Roman 12, single-spaced.
- Binding: Three duly bound copies must be submitted.
Title, author, director, Master's Degree in Occupational Risk Prevention and date.
- The university regulations foresee the electronic deposit of the papers in the ZAGUAN as an essential requirement for their defence (prior to their defence). Information about this repository can be found on the Internet or can be requested at the Law School library.
ASSESSMENT OF THE MASTER´S FINAL PROJECT.
TUTOR ASSESSMENT (on 10 p): 40%.
BOARD OF EXAMINERS ASSESSMENTS (on 10 p): 60%.
A minimum grade of 5 points must be obtained in both assessments in order to pass the MFP subject.
TUTOR ASSESSMENT:
- 1.- FORMAL ASPECTS (20%):
- 1.1.-Binding, pagination, writing. It should include the following information: title, table of contents, abstract, introduction, objectives, research questions, data recording and analysis, reflections, conclusions, bibliography and annexes.
- 1.2.-Bibliography (adequacy, organization)
- 2.-CONTENT ANALYSIS (80%):
- 2.1.-Design of an "original" work project adjusted to the scope: (Structure of the project, novelty, approach of ORP targets).
2.2.- Specific intervention proposal (ability to implement the project, strategies used, evidence of the use of the lessons learned in the other subjects).
2.3.-Consistency in reflections and conclusions (depth, adequacy and sense of the conclusions). Ability to take advantage of the work developed. Personal reflective contribution.
BOARD OF EXAMINERS ASSESSMENT:
- 1.-FORMAL ASPECTS (10%):
-1.1.- Binding, pagination, writing including: title, table of contents, abstract, introduction, objectives, research questions, data recording and analysis, reflections, conclusions, bibliography and annexes.
- 1.2.-Bibliography (adequacy, organization)
- 2.-CONTENT ANALYSIS (40%):
-2.1.- Design of an original work project adjusted to the scope: Structure of the project, novelty, approach of ORP targets).
-2.2 specific intervention proposal (ability to implement the project, strategies used, evidence of the use of the lessons learned in the other subjects).
ON THE PRESENTATION (50%):
- 3.1.-Clarity and originality (Adjustment to the established time, precision and synthesis of the presentation...).3.2.-Adjustment to the content of the dossier of the report 3.3.-Solvency in the debate to the questions posed.
